‘A Literary Podcast Origin Story’ for FBi Radio | link
This radio play is a satire story about two young literary critics working at Big Media Company. Tasked with writing a book review together by their dysfunctional editor, they struggle to balance integrity with personal interest. As the producer, director, and writer, I led a team of creative people to produce this story. It was part of All The Best podcast and broadcast on FBi Radio on 10 Nov 2024.
'Eight Metaphors of the Émigré Writer' | link
This piece is the winner of the 2023 Inner West Young Creatives Award (Writing). As the title suggests, I imagine what it's like to be an émigré writer. Judge Michael Sun wrote, 'I'm a terrible comedian' this piece protests, but still it manages to inject a well-known plight - that of the diasporic writer - with both searing humour and poignant lyricism. In its study of national and cultural fictions, it weaves together a universe of artistic references and personal pain with unique panache. Bravo!'

In this creative non-fiction piece, I take down the argument 'I don't have a problem with the culture - I only dislike the politics'.

This is a short poem in which I argue that it's not only the 'nice' things like culture and language that are passed down the generations - the not-so-savoury stuff like pain, fear, and trauma are also handed down from parent to child.

This short story takes place on the Trans-Siberian Railway in the 1930s. We follow a young protagonist whose gender is unspecified, as they navigate the world in which powerful ideologies such as communism and Christianity were trying to convert the young nation of the Republic of China.
